THe ALMoST VeRY BaD VaLeNTiNeS DaY

Hubby knows that Valentine's Day is very important to me.  It is the ONE day a year that he HAS to be romantic.  (I personally think it is why Valentine's Day was invented as men are notoriously unromantic the other 364 days of the year...)

So when said hubby entered our abode with a scrawny, cheap bouquet of flowers wrapped in red tissue paper (not even in a vase!) and a pathetic card...

Hubby then received the STINK EYE and the COLD SHOULDER for the rest of the evening.

Not liking said Stink Eye or Cold Shoulder hubby very wisely sent wifey an email from work the following morning that said "I LOVE YOU!"

Even better, hubby was absolutely brilliant by the time he left work and bought the following:

A perfectly acceptable Valentines bouquet IN A VASE of pink roses.  Wife tells him when he enters the house "Now THAT'S a flower arrangement".

In addition to make up for his faux pas he also purchased a $50 Starbucks card!

Now that is True Love!   All is forgiven and the stink eye and cold shoulder are both gone.  Another Valentine's Day is saved by a quick thinking husband.   whew!

DeCoRaTiNG FoR ThE HoLiDaYS 2013

 

Getting ready for Thanksgiving!

 

 

I've wanted a large ceramic Turkey to put out for Thanksgiving

for years and was so happy to find this beautiful white

one at a estate sale for only $3!!  Centered in a gold metallic

wreath surrounded by gold pumpkins made it even more

wonderful.

 

 

Mom bought this wonderful metal vintage carrier at a sale.

I thought it made a great, rustic centerpiece filled with

candles, leaves and pieces from nature.

 

 

Small grapevine wreaths tied with white & gold

ribbon on the backs of dining room chairs

made a sweet holiday touch!

 

 

And then it's time for Christmas!

 

 

So inexpensive to pick up great Christmas decorations

at estate sales all year!  These look great on my

shelf above the doorway!

 

 

 

Love these nice brass deer and extra large

ornaments picked up for practically nothing!

 

 

The large laundry basket this small tree sits in

is from the 1920's.  Purchased at an estate sale

for only $15!   After Christmas it will look lovely

holding our winter blankets.
